Corruption and tax evasion has plagued the Indian Premier League (IPL) following allegations of black money and illegal betting.
The Indian government has rolled into action by announcing a full investigation into the league’s financial dealings with senior members of the IPL’s managing body close to resigning or being sacked.
IPL Chairman, Lalit Modi, had a string of failed ventures according to Channel News Asia (CNA) (April 22, 2010) as little as four years ago and in the past three years has built up a cricketing empire which now provides him with a private jet, a luxury yacht and a fleet of Mercedes and BMW cars.
