The 2012-2013 budget for the Prince George’s County School was adopted last night, February 24, 2011, and is now pending approval from County Council and Maryland Legislature. This final budget is the fifth version presented over the past months as Superintendent William R. Hite Jr. attempted to close a huge deficit in the budget created by the depletion of Federal Stimulus money and a reduction in the number of students enrolled in the county.
Important Budgetary Changes Impact Teachers and other Staff
While there is still talk of future negotiations, the current budget includes several key factors that will impact both teachers and executive staff. On a basic pay check level, the budget includes:
No funding for step or cost of living increases, no funding for stipends and a three day furlough for executive staff members.
